Watany Eye Hospitals have indulged the concept of not only providing world-class clinical services, but also a wide range of educational and research activities. It was initiated through the establishment of the Watany Research and Development Center (WRDC), one of the first accredited private ophthalmic medical education centers in Egypt. The center collaborates with the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology in Egypt.

Along more than a decade, the center has conducted a large number of research projects that were published in world-renowned scientific journals, as well as facilitating the contribution of Egyptian researchers at conferences all over the world. The training division of the center provides standardized surgical and clinical training to our residents and fellows through courses and wet labs that are conducted in our highly equipped Watany research and educational lounge.

Along with our monthly scientific meetings, that are dedicated to presenting and discussing challenging cases, the Watany Eye Hospital conducts an annual international conference, the Watany Ophthalmology Summit (WOS), with hundreds of eminent international speakers over the past years. The summit is one of the leading and most attended ophthalmic conferences in Egypt and the middle east. The collaborations between our scientific center and other national or international ophthalmic organizations have a remarkable extent, as we conduct frequent live surgery sessions from the operating rooms of Watany Eye Hospitals, operated by our expert ophthalmic surgeons, to events in Italy, UAE, and Egypt
