cornea

Cornea and External Eye Diseases

The cornea is a clear dome-shaped layer forming the outermost layer of the eye. It acts as a barrier against bacteria and debris, filters against UV light, and helps focus the light coming towards the eye

Some conditions such as dryness and keratoconus may affect the cornea, which can sing da decrease the clarity of vision and sensitivity to light and glare.

For the treatment of corneal disease such as keratitis, corneal dystrophies, opacifications, ulcers and keratoconus. We offer medicinal, laser and surgical treatment options, depending on the characteristics and condition of each patient.

Keratoconus

• Keratoconus is a condition in which the cornea thins and bulges gradually outwards into a cone shape. Leading to blurred vision.

• Increased sensitivity to light and glare especially while driving at night.

• Sudden clouding of vision.

• Need to change eye prescriptions regularly

• Eyeglasses and prescription lenses can be a suitable treatment in the early stages of the condition, although advanced cases might require surgery such as keratoplasty, more commonly known as corneal transplant.
